Its name traces back to the ancient Hebrew word “Abaq”, meaning “dust” or “sand” of the earth.
Long ago, people spread sand across flat boards and drew lines with their fingers, calculating through constant trial and error. The root of this word also carries the meaning of “wrestling in the dust.”
